Welcome to the P750 support pages. Here you will find commonly requested files such as game configurations and the latest software and answers to commonly asked questions to help you get the most out of your P750
Q1: When I try and install my controller it tries to install Direct X 7a and just gets stuck in a loop where it tells me that I don't need to install Direct X. How do I get around this ?
A1: This is because you have Direct X 8 and as a result of a fault in our installer it fails to recognize that this is a newer version than 7a. To solve it put the installation CD in but quit the installation that comes up. Click Start and then Run and in the box type d:\setup.exe (if D is your CD drive letter) and run the installation that way. You won't get the prompt asking you to plug the stick in when you reboot but just put it in anyway and it should pick up okay. To test it then go to Control Panel and open up the Gaming Options icon and click Properties to get the test screen

Q2: I Connected My Game Controller to the PC Before Installing the Software and it Will Not Function Correctly - How Do I Get it Working Properly?
A2: Remove the device by clicking on Start > Settings > Control Panel and then double-click on the Game Controllers icon and delete the controller.
Run NukeUSB (this can be found on the Product Companion CD)
Follow the instructions for installing your game controller from the manual that came with the product.

Q3: I am using a USB controller with SGE and it has ‘frozen’ – what can I do?
A3: If your USB controller ‘freezes’ under SGE, try disconnecting the USB connector and then reconnecting it the to the PC. If this does not solve the problem, or should the problem persist, remove the controller using the NukeUSB utility found on the Saitek CD that came with your product. Note: This problem is more likely to occur if you have more than one USB device connected to your PC.

Q4: When I plug in my controller it installs as an Unknown Device. Why is this?
A4: There could be a few reasons for this. One is if you have Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) and are running an AMD processor with a VIA chipset motherboard. If this is the case then USB devices sometimes won't detect correctly so you can go to the following link for a fix.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=12904 It may also be because the controller is actually faulty or if you are plugging it into an external hub then try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer itself .

Q5 :Game Controllers/Gaming Options recognizes that my controller is present but when I click Properties I get the following error message, "An error occurred whilst working with the file c:\windows\system\joy.cpl" What do I do now?
A5: This is a fault with a file on your PC called dinput.dll. Please go to the following link for suggestions on how to solve this.

If the fix outlined in this article does not help then are only two other fixes that we are aware of.
The first is to reinstall Windows over the top of itself - this would involve no data loss on your hard drive and does seem to fix the fault in the majority of cases. If that doesn't work then the only other way is to format your PC's hard drive and reinstall Windows completely.

Q6 : Game Controllers/Gaming Options recognizes that my controller is present but when I click Properties I get the following error message, "Necessary Support Files Not Found"
A6: You need to do a search for a particular file. It is called REGSVR32.EXE and it should be in your C:\Windows\System directory - if it isn't then the stick won't install correctly. It is a system file that can be extracted from the Windows CD or you may find it elsewhere on your computer. Either way, if it isn't in that directory then copy it there so that it is and then uninstall everything and reinstall again - it should go in fine.
If it is in that location... Click Start and then Run.
Copy and paste the following line into that run box
c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe c:\progra~1\saitek\saitek~1\saigcext.dll
and click OK. Then open the run box again and replace the saigcext.dll bit at the end with saipages.dll
so it would read
c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe c:\progra~1\saitek\saitek~1\saipages.dll
and click OK.
Do this with each of the following file names just by replacing the bit at the end each time and clicking OK
saipp8.dll
saiprog.dll
saishell.dll
saiview.dll
Now try going into Game Controllers and seeing if the stick is there.
You should then be able to click Properties and then calibrate to finalize the setting up of this stick.

Q7: What version of Windows do I need to install my USB joypad?
A7: Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP all support USB controllers. Windows 95 or earlier versions will not support your USB controller.

Q8: I have programmed my controller in SGE but when I go into my game none of the programmed functions are working. Why is this happening?
Q8: With some game configurations because of the way that the game loads, the auto-configure program that is part of SGE does not load the profile correctly. This is solvable by manually loading the profile. To do this open up SGE, right-click on the profile that you wish to configure and click Configure Game Now from the drop-down list of options. If a warning appears saying that Auto Configure is going to be disabled then simply click Yes and then run your game - the programmed commands should now work just fine.

A9: The first thing to check if the controller isn't working in the game is whether it is working in Game Controllers/Gaming Options in Control Panel. You can do this following the instructions in the General FAQ. If it is working okay in there then we know the controller is okay and problem has to do with the game itself.
First, make sure that the game actually supports game controllers, because some PC games just don't (if you're unsure you should contact the game publisher for more info on this).
Secondly, make sure you have correctly enabled the controller in the game's control options screen - most games have an options screen where you have to set up the controls - if this is a little unclear to you then the best people to contact this are, again, the publisher of the game as they will be more familiar with the game's inner workings.
Thirdly, the game may well need an update to correct an existing problem that the game may have shipped with. Always check the game's website to see if there are any updates for it (typically called Patches).
