Problems:
My controller doesn't show up in the Game Controllers list when plugged in.
When installing my drivers 'next' doesn't appear.
Test:
Go the device manager (Right Click > My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager) and check in the entry named 'Human Interface Devices.'
Is the controller listed here? There should be two entries, one ending in (USB) the other ending in (HID). If not, are there any entries under the name 'Game Compliant HID device'?
Is there a yellow exclamation mark beside any of the entries?
Solutions:
If you get the same symptoms at this level on another computer, it could be a faulty button/ controller.
Try re-installing the drivers for that product. If they don't install, try manually installing the drivers from the device manager.
Complete Uninstall Instructions.
If the yellow exclamation mark is present, and only in this machine, try pluggin the controller into a different USB port. Is the controller plugged in directly into the back of the PC via its own USB cord?
Try updating your BIOS if you can, and even your Motherboard drivers. Is the chipset on your motherboard an nForce4 chipset? You can try a PCI card with extra USB ports to bypass the built in USB hardware.
